Rotherham United - New York Stadium Guide

Stadium Info
Rotherham United relocated to the Don Valley Stadium at the start of the 2008–09 season after a breakdown in talks with the landlords of Millmoor. They relocated the club to the 25,000 all-seater stadium on a temporary basis in the hope that either the Millmoor debate was resolved or a new stadium in Rotherham was built. The Don Valley is now the only league stadium to have a running track around the pitch. However only the main stand is opened to supporters meaning the view of the action is more or less the same for home and away fans.

Away Fans
Visiting supporters are situated toward one end of the main stand. The athletics stadium makes it almost impossible generate a good atmosphere and although the view is unobstructed you're quite a distance from the pitch. Facilities are ok and refreshments aren't over priced but my advice would be to grab something before or after the game. Alcohol is available in the away section however.

Where To Drink
Within 100 yards of the stadium entrance there are 2 pubs, both of which serve a good range of beverages and a small amount of food. Of the 2, 'Faras' is the only one that allow visiting fans in and the mixture of fans makes for some good banter. The other is just for home fans and is called 'The Cocked Hat'. If you cover colours, you'll probably still get in and have a very enjoyable drink but dont try without hiding the evidence.

Parking
Across the A630 you'll find the old Millmoor Stadium which may be worth a visit if you have a little spare time. It's also the area that you'll be best off looking for some street parking. There are closer spots that you'll need to arrive very early to grab a hold of. Alternatively, within 5-10 minutes walm of the ground you'll come across a number of pay and display car parks. There is no parking available at the stadium except for existing permit holders.

By Train
The nearest / closest train station to Rotherham United's New York Stadium is Rotherham Central. It's only a short 5-10 minute walk from the stadium so if you're planning on walking, turn right as you leave the station onto Central Road. Follow this and walk all the way along the rivers edge, past the magistrates court until you reach the Main Street T-Junction. Take a left and then immediate right onto Don Street. You should already be able to see the stadium, but in case you cant, follow the road round with the stadium on your right.
