Chelsea - Stamford Bridge Ground Guide

Stadium Info
The capacity of Stamford Bridge is just under 42,000, making it the smallest amongst the current 'big five' clubs. Although the smallest of the big five, Stamford Bridge's owners have been investing a lot of time and money into a redevelopment of the stadium. Over the past 10-15 years the investments have gone to hotels, the megastore, offices, residential buildings and 3 of the stands. Limitations on the development of the stadium will arise as there is limited available space for additions. Which could lead to the club rebuilding the stadium elsewhere as they continue to rebuild their squad. If they are going to continue to compete as a part of the 'big five' why not have the stadium to match it?

Away Fans
Approximately 3,000 seats are made available for visiting supporters and they are located in the south east corner of the Shed End. Away fans are seperated between the upper and lower tiers of the shed for league games whilst for cup games, the whole lower tier is generally given over. If demand is low then a much smaller section of both upper and lower tiers is optional.

There are no supporting pillars within the stadium which makes for fantastic views from all areas and leg room within the shed is ample. Refreshments are not overly expensive and facilities are what you'd expect from one of the biggest clubs in England.

Where To Drink
Chelsea reputedly has the largest number of pubs within a mile radius of the stadium so you have plenty of choice. Ones immediately opposite the ground are best avoided due to crowding. On the King’s Road that are friendly away fan pubs. Broudons outside Fulham Broadway is also recommended.

As regards places to eat, there is a Harry Ramsdens fish and chip shop located just outside the entrance to the away end.

Parking
Parking is very limited around Stamford Bridge as you would expect. So called football car parks that can charge upwards of £6 for the game are available but a more popular and cheaper choice for evening or sunday games is to drive approximately 1 mile away from the stadium until you leave the residents only section. In my experience, providing you're there 45-60 minutes or so before kick off, you'll find parking around Waltham Green.

By Train
The nearest / closest train station to Chelsea's Stamford Bridge Stadium is West Brompton. This overground station is about 15 minutes walk from the stadium. Turn right outside the station, then right again into Brompton Cemetery. Walk through the cemetery and Stamford Bridge will appear on the right. For evening games, turn right after the cemetery into Finborough Road and then right again onto Fulham Road.

The nearest tube station is Fulham Broadway which is on the District Line. You can either get on a tube bound for wimbledon or change at Earls Court on the District Line of necessary.
